Add Captures - Direct from qApp

Learn how to add captures to a site from your computer

Updated on September 19th, 2025

Follow these steps below if you transferred scans from the qCam to your computer

This process outlines the steps to add scans that you transferred directly to your computer

1. Press add => New Capture in your qApp account.

2. Select the site to add the scans to.

3. Optional - the Looq default settings for masking panoramas are for Pedestrians and Vehicles. You can disable these but will result in noisier data or potential privacy issues in your region.

4. Drag and drop, or browse to add the capture (LMR format).

5. Choose the preferred PPK GNSS Correction option.

Auto Base (Recommended for Utility Projects)

Looq offers a GNSS correction service to streamline the processing of data in our platform. However, it is important to note the pros and cons of this method.

Pros

  • No additional field hardware needed for GNSS processing
  • Streamline cloud processing that automatically finds the best correction service available

Cons

  • Coverage may be sparse in some regions / areas which may result in lower quality or no GNSS corrections available
  • User has no option to choose the base station to use for the processing
  • Some base stations may have downtime that is out of our control

Upload Base (Recommended for Survey Projects)

Looq offers the option for users to upload GNSS base station data in Rinex format for higher accuracy. The following is required for this option.

  • Rinex file in .zip format (obs file is the required file)
  • 1 second logging interval required
  • Time overlap between qCam capture and Rinex file
  • Single obs file only in upload (if you have multiple you need to merge using a third party utility)
  • Location of base station required in Latitude / Longitude. Looq can read from the header if this is available, or you can manually enter if you know the processed location of the base station

6. Click "Create"

8. Click "OK"

9. Ensure you keep your browser open until the upload is completed.

Important

Do not to close the browser window or allow your computer to go to sleep during the upload process otherwise this will result in a corrupt or incomplete upload.

10. Repeat this process if you have multiple scans to add to a site. This can be done when other captures are currently uploading.

11. Ensure the scans are successfully uploaded before you close the browser.
