General best practices
- Hold the qCam as though you are holding a coffee cup.
- Do not have the top camera aimed at the sun to prevent inaccurate readings due to excessive light exposure.
- When capturing, have the device tipped slightly down.
- For best results, do a second pass and walk in rows that are perpendicular to your first set. Do not worry crossing over a row to get to a new location.
- When capturing, move at a slow to mild pace as you are walking the site. Ensure changes of direction are smooth, refrain from jerky hand or arm movements. Sudden or jerky motions may yield bad data.
- When at a point of interest, feel free to aim the device at the point of interest and orbit the point of interest while keeping the device pointed at that point. There is also a button at the top right block of the capture UI which you can click to highlight that point of interest.
- Continue the process from area to area until you have completed a minimum of 10 minutes and up to 20 minutes of capturing for the most reliable captures, making sure to End Scan before unplugging or starting new capture.
